U.S. Representative Rick Larsen says China President Xi Jinping’s upcoming meeting with U.S. congressional leaders is “very important.”
The Democratic lawmaker from the U.S. state of Washington, where Xi will make his first stop next Tuesday, told CCTV America, “The relationship between the Standing Committee in China and the National People’s Congress is one that is very different than the relationship between the (U.S.) presidency and the Congress.”
Larsen believes the meeting will help the Chinese President better understand the complexity of U.S. politics, in particular because the Congress often has “several different voices” about issues such as how to deal with China.
Representative Larsen also says Washington State welcomes President Xi and is looking forward to seeing more Chinese investment in aerospace, construction and manufacturing sectors.
