Chinese President Xi Jinping is in London on his first state visit to Britain. The trip will boost ties in what both sides have called a “golden era” in relations between the two.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife, Madame Peng Liyuan, joined the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at a creative industry event at Lancaster House. The event celebrates existing and future cultural collaborations between the UK and China.
Wednesday, Xi visited Imperial College London. The president was accompanied by Peng, Prince Andrew, and Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne as he viewed the latest in medical robotics and listened to a presentation on big data.
Xi’s visit came amid new education, research and innovation collaborations between the university and China.
