The first dress rehearsal of 2016 CCTV Spring Festival Gala — “You and Me, Our Chinese Dream, Building a Moderately Prosperous Society” — was held on Tuesday.
The rehearsal saw many types of performances including traditional martial arts, singing, dancing, magic shows and acrobatics.
Traditional martial arts performed by artists of the Zhonghua Martial Arts School of Laizhou, Shandong, attracted a lot of attention.
As the festival will open the Chinese New Year of the Monkey, the martial arts performance gave prominence to the famous legendary Chinese Monkey King with various stunts of “golden cudgel” presented by both grownup and young artists.
The gala will be live broadcast on Feb. 7, the New Year’s Eve, the biggest and most important holiday time in China.
